the Contemporary Art Society of Victoria (CAS)
The Society is a non-profit organisation, run on a voluntary basis by artists for the benefit of artists and those interested in the arts. It is based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia and was founded in 1938. A brief history of CAS is here.
Our primary aims include the fostering and promotion of contemporary art, to further the understanding of it, and to encourage and stimulate artists.
The Society currently organises four major exhibitions in Melbourne each year, and administers three art 'spaces' for smaller-scale exhibitions (see Exhibitions and Spaces links on the left).
CAS also organises gallery walks and social 'get-togethers' (picnics and dinners) for its members throughout the year. Click on the Membership link (above menus or link below) to see the benefits of membership and how to apply for membership of the Society.
