It was a relaxing and enjoyable time had by all who attended the High Tea at the Beau Monde in Doncaster. We were welcomed in the foyer by an elegant spiral staircase and fireplace surrounded by two CAS artworks adorning the walls. Rosemary Mangiamele’s ‘Mercuric Cinnabar’ acrylic on paper and “Terpsichore” by Robert Lee.

A short tour of some of the 34 executive suites adorned with CAS artworks looks impressive. All artworks are available for sale to patrons of the hotel. All labeled with Artist name, details including price. In each room the hotel information compendium has details of artwork in the room. Elegant rooms with original artworks.

We gathered in the foyer by the impressive fireplace before being ushered in to the restaurant at 2.30 for the High Tea experience. A glass of champagne was offered on arrival with fresh coffee and tea if you preferred. The CAS guests filled two tables. The 14 CAS members artworks in the restaurant were big and bright especially Robert Lee’s painting “Red Landscape” on far wall. Very bold and dramatic. A compendium of all artworks on display was perched on a sidetable near the restaurant entrance for people to peruse at leisure. A whole page allocated to each artist with details of their work, for potential purchasers. We were told that 2 artworks had been sold from the show.

The High Tea began with the tiered plate selections arriving at each table. Fantastic fare of sandwiches, small cakes and scones. With a slight of hand, Robert Lee scooped up two sandwich triangles with ease. We all agreed the sandwiches were delicious. On our table was Mandy Hopkins, a past CAS president, and her daughter Rachael, as wall as a dozen CAS members and friends. She sat below a colourful painting by Graham Edwards titled “Water Nymph” A lot of conversations about art, food and everything else!

I think everyone enjoyed themselves at the Beau Monde High Tea and it was great to see the CAS artworks on display. Thanks to CAS President Robert for getting us a great deal. Wonderful venue.
